Christmas is all about family … and food!
71 days to go!
Christmas is the highlight of the year, a time where we get together with our loved ones to celebrate. Most of us have our own traditions like the silliest Christmas jumper competition or maybe you all go round to your grandparents on Christmas eve, but the biggest one we share with families at this time of year is the tradition of Christmas dinner.
Over the years the “roast beast” of Christmas Dinner has evolved from boar in medieval England, to goose or even swan or peacock if you were rich but did you know that Turkey did not make its way to the dinner table in England until the 16th Century. By 1573 turkeys were commonly served at English Christmas dinners– Remember the bit from Charles Dickens Novel “Scrooge” where Scrooge sends Bob Cratchit a prize Turkey?
Here at The Earl this Christmas, Turkey is just one of the delights we have on our menu! Why not join us for a festive meal throughout December.
Choose from our Christmas Afternoon Tea, Christmas Fayre Lunch & Dinner, Festive Sunday Lunch, Christmas Day Luncheon & Carvery or Boxing Day Luncheon.
We Ho-Ho-Hope to see you soon!
